Spen dodge showers to secure fine derby triumph

Hopton Mills were 12-0 against Wrenthorpe and Altofts were 19-1 after ten overs against Bowling Old Lane when both matches were abandoned.

Bankfoot made 199 against Carlton, who were 34-1 after six overs when rain stopped play.

Liversedge suffered a 40-run defeat to Idle in the only Championship A match to see a result.

Idle opener Mohammed Rafiq made 98 from 87 balls, with three sixes and 10 fours and helped his side to 141-5 in the 30 over a side contest.

William Atkin (3-29) was pick of the Liversedge bowlers but they were restricted to 101-9 in reply as Altaf Mohammad picked up 3-25, despite Paul Marlow (38) top scoring.

Leaders Batley looked to be on course for a fifth win when rain halted their pursuit of Yeadon’s 146-9 with them on 120-5.

Scott Price (36) top scored for Yeadon as Muhammed Hafeez and Tariq Hussain both returned figures of 3-42.

Tariq Mehboob (37) and Asif Ayub (28no) helped their side to 120-5 in 19 overs before rain halted the run chase.

Birstall’s New Zealander Alexander Debs took 5-47 before their game at Ossett was washed out with the home side 111-7 after 23 overs.

Shabir Rashid made 33 and Harvey Anderson (32) before play was halted.

Hunslet Nelson’s 22-year-old Australian Chris Anderson struck a brilliant 119 in his side’s 167-7 at Saltaire, who were 24-2 from nine overs when the rain hit.

Crossbank Methodists earned a second win the Conference against Oulton.

Crossbank made 120-7 in their 20-over contest with Frederik Ras hitting 38 before Oulton were restricted to 109-5.
