WOODLANDS second team capped a memorable weekend for the Oakenshaw club as they won a thrilling Crowther Cup final at Shepley, 24 hours after their first team won the Bradford league title.

Woodlands defeated Baildon by two wickets with just three balls to spare to round off a brilliant season.

Baildon batted first and posted an impressive 215-9 thanks to contributions from Steve Dunn (48), Dan Bailey (42), Chris Reynolds (41no) and Jonny Baines (32).

Phil Walker (2-36) and Rob Medcalf (2-38) were the best Woodlands bowlers.

Captain Cieran Garner (83) and Adam Wood (55) shared a second-wicket stand of 101 after Liam Brearley had suffered the misfortune of being dismissed for a duck in a final for the second time this season, having being dismissed for nought in his side’s one-wicket Priestley Shield final defeat by Keighley.

Rob Medcalf (27) maintained momentum as wickets started to tumble, with Baildon captain Jamie Abbott claiming 3-26, before no10 John Hill came in and steered his side home with an unbeaten 11.
