Mount remain top of Halifax League Division Two but are now just three points clear of Old Town and five ahead of third placed Upper Hopton, who they welcome to Staincliffe this week.

Mount were bolwed out for a usefullooking total of 266 having won the toss and elected to bat first as Hanif Kayat top scored with 49, while Imran Rawat (46) and Soyeb Gheewala (43) chipped in with useful contributions. Greetland’s reply started slowly and they were struggling at 150-6 as Fakir Laher (3-61) and Anees Rawat (2-53) impressed before they recovered superbly.

Greetland required two runs to win off the final ball but were restricted to a single and they ended 266-8.

Mount B earned a 141-run success at home to Oxenhope in second teams Division One.

After winning the toss, Mount B elected to bat first and posted a huge score of 383-9 in their allocated 45 overs.

Jabir Patel was once again in superb form as he followed up his 152 not out the previous week by making 180.

His superb innings included included 16 sixes and 18 fours and he shared a 143-run partnership with Suleman Rawat, who made 51.

Amjad Hussain remained unbeaten with a quickfire knock of 45 towards the end of the innings.

Oxenhope B began their reply aggressively but were bowled out for 242 in the 44th over.

Amjad Hussain picked up the first four wickets for 61 runs and Abdul Ravat took 3-35.

Mount claimed a maximum 12 points from the game and remain second in the table behind Shelf Northowram Hedge Top, who are currently 12 points in front.
