Cleckheaton RUFC edged out in Yorkshire Cup semi-final by Hull

CLECKHEATON RUFC turned in a determined display before losing Wednesday's Yorkshire Cup semi-final 15-11 to Hull at Moorend.

The visitors struck first after 19 minutes when Dan White crossed for a try but Cleckheaton responded three minutes later with a penalty from Iain Gordon.

Five minutes after the break Richard Piper crossed for an unconverted try before another Gordon penalty saw Cleckheaton lead 11-5 after 50 minutes.

Hull piled on the pressure and it eventually told as Rod Devonshire scored a try to cut the deficit to one point.

The hosts grafted hard but Hull came up with the crucial score 11 minutes from time as Joe Donkin raced in for a try to see the visitors reach the final.
