Celtic old boy Cummins to take junior coaching day

Bradford Bulls head coach Francis Cummins will return to his roots on Saturday to host a training session with Dewsbury Celtic Under-12s.

Cummins has agreed to take time out of his busy schedule preparing for Bradford’s opening Super League game against Wakefield on Sunday to host a session.

Alex Walmsley was playing for Celtic just two seasons ago but he has been snapped up by St Helens following a fantastic year with Batley Bulldogs and he will also be passing on tips to the youngsters, along with a third Celtic product to move into the professional game, Dane Manning of Halifax.

Celtic are hoping to attract Under-12s (school year 7) who are not currently with other clubs and anyone interested in joining should turn up to Crow Nest Park for an 11am start.

Batley Bulldogs star Danny Maun took a special training session for the Batley Boys Under-12s at Mount Pleasant last Saturday.

Players were encouraged to take a friend along to the session and around a dozen youngsters braved the snow and ice to take part and it proved to be a great success with the players learning a skills from Maun, who gave up his own time to attend.

This Saturday (February 2) the Under-8s and Under-12s will stage another bring a friend session.

The Under-8s session starts at 11am, contact coach Paul Tomlinson 07767 032553 if you are interested in your child taking part and the Under-12s start at noon and should contact Mick Innes 07825 001698.

Dewsbury Moor Under-18s entertain Churwell Chiefs in the Yorkshire Youth Cup on Sunday (kick off 11am).

Moor’s first team return to Pennine League Premier Division action this Saturday when they welcome Queensbury to Heckmondwike Road (2pm).
