Big tests for Mills and Stars

HOPTON Mills are gearing up for a crunch clash in Central Yorkshire League Division Two when they welcome leaders Scholes to Woodbottom tomorrow (1pm).

Three wins on the spin have elevated Scholes from fifth to top spot level with Caribbean and two clear of third-placed Mills who go into the clash on the back of an impressive win over Townville A.

Joel Barnett hit 83 not out in Mills’ 233-7 before Michael Carroll and Richard Myers combined to claim nine wickets as the hosts were 128 all out.

Moorlands are one point behind Division One’s joint leaders Liversedge and Carlton but may drop further behind as they sit out tomorrow’s round of matches.

On Sunday Heatontravel to Bankfoot in the Twenty20 competition on the back of a narrow victory over Hartshead Moor on Tuesday evening.

Savile Stars face a top two clash in Dales Council Division B tomorrow as they host Apperley Bridge at Sands Lane (1.30pm).

The Stars have a 100 per cent league record after eight games and lead by 12 points from Apperley.

They were bowled out for 145 at bottom club Tong Manor last week before Rafat Mahmood (6-21) guided them to an eight-run win.
