Batley replaced at top after defeat to Ossett

It is the first time this season that Batley have not led the way, with Yeadon the new leaders by a single point after romping to a 143-run win over bottom team Idle.

Batley’s batting failed to fire as they were bowled out for 113 as Charles Orme (4-32) and Khalid Usman (3-23) impressed with Aqsad Ali (22) top scoring for the Mount Pleasant side .

Ossett didn’t have things all their own way but edged home with Usman making 35 and Shabbir Rashid (32).

Yeadon were reduced to 20-3 but recovered to declare on 183-6 after 37 overs.

The revival was led by Max Maciver and Damon Gormley who both hit half-centuries.

Maciver struck eight fours in his 59 while Gormley struck three sixes and two fours while making 58.

Yeadon then skittled out Idle for just 40 as Kiwi Taine Jolley was in devastating form to return stunning figures of 6-9.

Zeeshan Syed (13) was the only batsman to make double figures in an Idle innings that was boosted by 13 extras.

Liversedge were saved by the rain on their trip to lowly Keighley.

Steve Lane (37), Paul Marlow (34) and Jessie Dinnie (33) all made useful runs as Liversedge posted 171-7 in a match reduced to 13 overs a side.

Benjamin Hastie’s superb knock of 90 looked to have Keighley on course for victory at 142-4 from 25 overs when the rain had the final say and the draw leaves Liversedge eighth in the table.

Heckmondwike and Carlinghow completed a league double over Conference high fliers Buttershaw St Paul’s.

Buttershaw made 160-7 in their 36 overs with Kevin McDermott (73) leading the way, while Heckmondwike captain Chris Allen took 4-38 with his off spin.

Heckmondwike edged home with one ball to spare to win by four wickets.

Paul Cooper top scored with 37 while James Swayer (4-62) was the best of the St Paul’s bowlers as they missed the chance to move second.

Overseas player Frederik Raz made 50 as Crossbank Methodists compiled a score of 132-8 against East Ardsley.

The visitors were in some trouble at 104-8 when play was abandoned. James Abbott returned the tidy figues of 4-25.

Rodley lifted themselves off the bottom of the table as they defeated East Leeds by seven wickets.

Adwalton are now propping up the table after their four-wicket defeat at the hands of leaders Northowram Fields. The were restricted to 81-7 in their 27 overs as Zafar Khan returned 3-28.

Northowram took 14.4 overs to seal victory.
