O’Brien took out the previously unbeaten Jordan with an arm triangle choke in the first round to clinch the belt at the Alpha Male Fighting Championships, hosted by the Spa in Scarborough on Saturday, July 6.

The Batley man seemed set for a tough fight against Jordan, but defied expectations to win in style.

After a hard training camp he travelled to Scarborough in top form and wasted no time in making the title his own.

O’Brien trains at Allegiance Gym in Batley under the guidance of founder and head coach Neil Hall, who has produced numerous champions in MMA, kickboxing and grappling.

He was also supported by MP Fit Gym in Birstall who afford Allegiance Fighters the use of their gym.

He took a big team with him to the fight in Scarborough and did not disappoint against Redcar’s Jordan, taking just minutes to claim an impressive victory over his opponent.

Earlier this year, the Batley hitman took a narrow decision win over Dan Kelsall at Lockdown 3, and will look to extend his winning run later this month.

His next fight will be at Event City, Manchester on Saturday, where he will be taking part in Fight Ikon as part of the new MMA Expo.

Elsewhere, Allegiance’s Phil Rogerson made the perfect start to his fighting career as he came in an impressive second place in his first competitive outing.

Rogerson claimed the silver medal with a great performance at the Shoot & Submit No-Gi Grappling Competition last weekend.

Clubmate Kieron Cassidy also got in the medals last Sunday as he took bronze in a major tournament in Japan.

Cassidy competed at the Knockdown Karate Shieijyuku World Open and finished with a highly creditable third place finish.
