Annakin set to sign for Rams

DEWSBURY Rams are ready to swoop to sign forward Chris Annakin from Wakefield Trinity’s Academy.

Annakin spent much of his junior career at Shaw Cross Sharks, where his brother, Danny, still plays, before joining Wakefield.

Although 22-year-old Annakin didn’t feature in the Wildcats first team last term, he spent the latter part of the season on loan at Championship One side Workington Town.

The Reporter understands the prop forward or second rower is set to sign for his home-town club and team up with his former Wildcats academy coach Glenn Morrison as Dewsbury’s 12th new signing.

The Rams also look set to be able to call on the services of highly rated scrum-half Ben Johnson, who is joining on a season long loan from Castleford Tigers.

The pacy Johnson, 20, is a product of the Castleford scholarship after being signed from local amateur club Lock Lane in 2010.

Although the Tigers see him as part of their future plans, they have loaned him out to Dewsbury to gain valuable first-team experience.

The Tigers have struck a similar deal which will allow full-back or winger James Clare to go on loan to newly promoted Doncaster.

Both will be available to play for their respective loan clubs from February 2013 and after the first 28 days they will be on a 24 hour call back for the Tigers.

Dewsbury are planning to stage a meet the players evening in November, which should prove popular among supporters given the hive of activity at Tetley’s Stadium since the end of last season.

Dewsbury have also announced season ticket prices, which will cover the 13 home games in the expanded Championship.

Seating season tickets are £130 (adults) and £85 (concessions), while DREMA members can get a 10 per cent discount on these prices.

Junior season tickets remain at £25, whether standing or seated.

The official season ticket launch will take place at the meet the players night but supporters can order in advance by e-mailing [email protected] or call 01924 465489.

The club are also planning a series of events next year to mark the 40th anniversary of Dewsbury’s Championship triumph over Leeds at Odsal.
