Junior members engage with fishing through a blend of practical and theoretical learning sessions.

Bankside practical sessions are currently on stretches of canals and ponds managed by Dewsbury Angling Club, who also have generously donated fishing equipment.

The wider aspects of angling, from setting up fishing tackle, water craft, care of fish and their habitat are introduced in classroom-based sessions at Chickenley Community Centre where all junior members work towards the Kingfisher award.

The Clubmark award was made possible by the hard work of the junior members and coaches supported by a number of Dewsbury based businesses, organisations and local government.

The breadth of support has been terrific with special mention for Councillors Cathy Scott and Eric Firth, patrons and staff of Hanging Heaton WMC, Eastborough WMC, patrons of Bath Hotel and Rosie’s Bar, George Brooke funeral directors, Kerrs Angling Ossett, and the Masonic Lodge, who generously donated time, money and fishing equipment.
