Allen, Holt and Cooper shine in Premier defeat

Imran Patel hit a fine 109 not out to steer Dewsbury Young Stars into the Dewsbury District Cup final with victory over Scout Hill last Sunday.

Young Stars were in trouble at 57-5 in reply to Scout Hill’s 176-9 but while Imran Patel remained at the crease they had a chance.

Three further wickets fell, leaving Young Stars on 126-8 but Imran Patel and Imran S Patel (21no) produced a 51-run unbroken stand to steer them into the final with four balls to spare.

Imran Patel hit seven sixes and seven fours on his way to 109 not out, having earlier taken 3-35 in eight over, during a Scout Hill innings which saw Amir Malik top score with 38.

Young Stars will meet PKWA in the final after they defeated Kismat A by 51 runs.

Subair Badat (60) and Farhan Ali (38) led PKWA to 152 all out, with Asif Patel (3-11) and Ismail Haji (3-32) impressing with the ball.

Badat then claimed 4-7 and with support from Raja Nadeem (2-42), Kismat were dismissed for 121 with Mushtaq Patel (25) top scoring.

Azad will meet Dewsbury Elite in the Section B final.

Saqib Hussain made 52 in Azad’s 197 all out before they dismissed Kismat B for 85.

Nohman Hussain (2-12), Tamoor Saghir (2-14), Naseer Saudagar (2-17) and Khuram Akhtar (2-13) chipped in with wickets as Dewsbury Elite dismissed Dewsbury for 97.

Elite went on to secure a five-wicket win with Naseer Saudagar (20) top scoring.

n Mount A suffered a second defeat in the Huddersfield Central League as the Premier section leaders lost by seven wickets to Green Moor.

Mount were seeking to avenge their cup defeat to Green Moor the previous week and produced a fine batting display to reach 214-8 thanks to Anees Rawat (60), Yusuf Kayat (48) and Imran Suleman Rawat (47).

Green Moor raced to 217-3 as opener J Bates finished unbeaten on 110.

Mount remain top but are now just a point above Thurstonland ahead of Saturday’s trip to Holmbridge A.

Mount B missed out on the chance to move second in Section B as they suffered a five-wicket defeat against Netherton A.

Although Abdul Ravat top scored with 35, Mount were bowled out for just 90 as L Newton produced an impressive bowling display to claim 5-35.

Netherton lost five wickets in reply but stumbled to their target and Mount B will be aiming to bounce back on Saturday when they welcome Holmbridge B to Staincliffe (2pm).
