Confidence was high following their superb 8-1 win over Staveley Miners Welfare in midweek and Sedge started well, creating several good chances.

Matthew Bugg scored a hat-trick in the midweek win and he spotted the Tadcaster goalkeeper off his line and attempted a 25-yard lob which went just over the crossbar.

Curtis McMahon crossed and Chris Hirst’s volley was well saved, while at the other end a Josh Barrett effort was saved by Ryan Blythe.

Liversedge took the lead after 43 minutes when McMahon’s corner picked out an unmarked Bugg, who headed home.

The home side should have doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time but McMahon blazed over from close in and the ball landed out of the ground on the Spen Greenway.

Tadcaster’s 51st minute equaliser was somewhat fortunate as Blythe lost sight of a corner in the sun and the ball struck Barrett on the back and landed in the net.

Albion’s winner came nine minutes from full-time when Stuart Rice bundled home a cross on the goalline and defeat leaves Liversedge 15th in the table.
