A Dewsbury arts group are set to put on a number of shows this month as they aim to showcase their theatrical talents.

Dewsbury Arts Group will be putting on Youth Classes which will see their younger members take to the stage.

The group is putting on three contrasting plays over the course of two evenings.

They include an Alan Ayckbourn play ‘Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations’.

This is about Ernie who has a vivid imagination, which is alarming to his parents.

However, his thoughts have the disconcerting habit of turning into reality.

The second play - “Ambush” by David Foxton - concerns young Zed who leads her young freedom fighters in a raid on the local military outpost but things don’t go as planned.

The final play of the evening is a new play written by member Matthew Bailey: “You only call me when it’s late.”

This concerns Lizzie who has a new job as a intern at the local radio station.

It is there that she dreams about following in the footsteps of her idle Jen Jackson.

However, she is paired up with cynical Alan, host of the late night caller show.

Soon Lizzie has to fend off more than a few irate callers...

The shows take place on Tuesday, May 17 and Wednesday, May 18 at the Artspace on Lower Peel Street, Dewsbury.

Tickets are £9 adults and £8 concessions.
