And you have the power to decide who wins the cash.

Asda’s Chosen By You, Given By Us scheme gives its customers the chance to decide where the company donates money.

Last Friday the Dewsbury store revealed the three causes – nominated by local people – which are to compete for the latest cash prize.

They are St Paulinus School, Thornhill Trojans and the Reporter Series Fund.

The voting has now opened so we’re asking all our readers who shop at Asda in Dewsbury to get behind us and use their green tokens to back our charity appeal.

Money donated to our fund during 2013 will be shared by four different charities – Kirkwood Hospice, the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, One Community and Asthma UK.

Reporter Series editor Hannah Ridgeway said: “I hope readers will help us to support these four fantastic charities by voting for the Reporter Series Fund at Asda.

“We really appreciate your generous cash donations and fundraising efforts so far, and this is a really simple way of ensuring that we raise even more money for the fund and these four deserving causes.”

Anyone who shops in the store in Mill Street West will be given a green token at the till.

They can then use the token to cast a vote at the store’s Dewsbury Community Life stand.

Shoppers who want to support the Reporter Series Fund should drop their green token into the middle slot.

Voting for the current round of Chosen By You, Given By Us closes on May 31.

All three nominees will get £50 from the supermarket, but the cause with the most votes will receive £200.
