‘You don’t know how hard it is’
Francesca Smith, 22, is running the London Marathon on April 21st for charity Action On Hearing Loss. She has never run a marathon before, but wanted to do something for the charity after it helped her friend Sarah Marshall cope with her own hearing problems.
“You don’t know how hard it is when you take hearing for granted,” Miss Smith, of Spring Place Court, Mirfield, said.

Miss Smith grew up in Liversedge and Ms Marshall lives Gomersal. The pair went to Whitcliffe Mount School.
“I run quite a lot anyway but I’ve never done anything as steep as 26 miles,” she said. “I’m not really that worried about actually doing it – it’s just the weather at the moment makes it difficulty to get out for training.”
