World of colour at student exhibition

Photographs have been transformed into colurful works of art for an exciting exhibition.

First year students from Batley School of Art are presenting their Vision of Colour exhibition at the West Yorkshire Print Workshop until July 15.

Artists on the Contemporary Photographic Arts course are displaying their silk screen prints, where photographs are made into prints and brought alive with colour and other effects.

The exhibit also features a display of photographs and handmade books.

Student Hannah Whitehead said: “We’ve loved doing this exhibition, it has been a refreshing change learning a new art form in screen printing.

“There are nine different students’ work on display and we’re all really proud of the works that we’ve created.”

Batley School of Art will kick off its end of year and degree show tomorrow (Friday) with a fashion show.

Create 2013 sees students showcase their final projects in art, design, photography and fashion.

The fashion show will be held at the college in Birkdale Road, Dewsbury at 8pm.

Tickets cost £3 and can be purchased from Batley School of Art.

Create 2013 will open to the public on Saturday 10am-2pm and Monday to Wednesday from 10am-4pm.
