Women threatened with 10-inch blade in Dewsbury robbery

Two women were threatened with a kitchen knife and wooden stick in a terrifying robbery in Dewsbury.

The three suspects gained entry to the property on Wakefield Road through an open window in the basement cellar between 12.15 and 12.30am this morning (Wednesday).

The trio made their way upstairs, where one brandished a 10-inch blade, thought to be a kitchen knife, and a wooden stick at a 23-year-old woman and a 40-year-old woman.

Another female, 25, was upstairs in the property at the time, unaware of what was going on.

The suspects made demands for their property and the women, who were unharmed in the incident, handed over their mobile phones.

Once the phones had been handed over, the suspects unlocked the cellar door and escaped via the basement.

Detective Inspector Ian Thornes, of Kirklees CID, said: “This is a disturbing incident in their own home and I would appeal for any information to help catch the culprits.

“I would also urge people to close their doors and windows during the night.”

The first suspect is desribed as wearing a black balaclava with the eyeholes cut out, a black coat with a silver zip and black pants.

Another suspect is described as a white male around 35 years old, witha slim build and short, dark brown hair. He is also described as having a London accent and wearing dark clothing.

A description was not given for the third suspect.
