Woman sexually assaulted by stranger

A young woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger in Thornhill Lees yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).

The 21-year-old victim was assaulted near the Post Office on Brewery Lane at around 4.15pm.

DI Andy Leonard, of Dewsbury CID, said the woman was with a friend when she was approached by the man.

A number of people were at the scene at the time of the attack and although a man has been arrested, police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

He said: “Anyone who witnessed the should contact DC Brooke at Dewsbury Police Station on 101.”

The man was released on police bail pending further enquiries.
