Water rescue crews from Wakefield, Rothwell, Leeds and Dewsbury were called to Rectory Park, Church Lane, Thornhill at around 3.45pm yesterday (Saturday).
A fire service spokesman said the woman had entered the water to rescue her dog.
Both the woman and the dog were rescued by firefighters.
