Firefighters from the 2013 calendar, which sold more than 4,600 copies have now handed over the proceeds to eight charities.

Organiser Dom Furby said: “We knew Red Hot Dates would be popular because the calendar has enjoyed a great amount of success in the past, but we never expected such an incredible response. Thanks to everyone for their support and the firefighters who gave their own time to sell and publicise the calendar all over West Yorkshire. They’ve attended everything from shopping centres and supermarkets to ladies’ nights.”

And in a final push to boost the coffers for next year’s calendar – and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Firefighters’ charity – a 1970s fancy dress disco has been organised for April 26 at the Frontier, Batley. Tickets cost £15 which includes food. Tickets from www.redhotdates.org.uk or call 01274 682311. Businesses wanting to support the 2014 calendar, should call 01274 655807.
