West Yorkshire Police suspended 42 officers and staff
Figures obtained by the Reporter Series reveal 33 of the 42 suspensions involved criminal cases – 16 of which are ongoing and 13 resulted of which in the officer being dismissed after they were convicted.
Our investigation found a further four officers resigned from their post before being disciplined.

Hide AdThe suspensions took place between January 1, 2012, and June 30, 2014.
Of the officers and staff suspended, seven were disciplined for discreditable conduct and two for duty and responsibility reasons.
The police service also suspended one officer for honesty and integrity reasons.
Det Chief Supt Clive Wain, of West Yorkshire Police’s Professional Standards Department, said: “West Yorkshire Police expects the highest level of professionalism and honesty from our officers and staff.

Hide Ad“We will, alongside the Independent Police Complaints Commission, investigate any allegation that an individual’s conduct has fallen below that expected standard.
“The suspension of an officer or staff member does not indicate guilt but is done to allow a full and thorough investigation to take place.
“Last year, of the officers suspended, a third were reinstated following the conclusion of enquiries.”
