We’re heading for a knockout!

A CHARITY is planning a day of fundraising fun which it hopes will be a knockout success.

Every year the Hollybank Trust in Mirfield hosts its own It’s A Knockout competition – and this year the Reporter Series is fielding a team.

The contest, based on the classic television programme, will pit teams of 10 against each other as they take on giant inflatable obstacle courses, pools of water and gallons of foam.

Journalists and sales representatives from the Batley and Birstall News, Dewsbury Reporter, Mirfield Reporter and Spenborough Guardian will be taking part in the competition and they are looking for your sponsorship.

The event takes place on Sunday June 24 at the trust’s Roe Head site in Far Common Road.

It forms part of Hollybank’s annual family fun day, which starts at 11am and features rides, music, dance, circus skills, face painting, zumba sessions and a police dog show.

Organiser Dayne Sawyer said: “We have planned a fantastic day for everyone to remember.

“We hope that many families come to support all the teams and enjoy the fun day.

“In supporting Hollybank, you are helping to make a real difference to the lives of our residents and pupils.”

The fun day is being sponsored by gear manufacturing firm David Brown, which fielded the winning team in last year’s contest.

David Brown’s human resources director Kate Norman said: “Local community is very important for us and supporting charity, schools and other local events has always been something that we value very highly.

“Here’s hoping the fun day will be a great and well supported event!”

Mr Sawyer said: “An organisation like Hollybank Trust depends on the generous support of companies like David Brown and its employees.”

Every team taking part in It’s A Knockout has to raise at least £700 for Hollybank, which the trust will use to care for children, young people and adults with complex disabilities at its school and residences.
