The youngster was the envy of millions across the country as they watched him walk hand-in-hand with one of the England stars before their match with Denmark last night (Wednesday).

Ten-year-old Adam, who lives in Batley, walked out in front of 68,573 fans with Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling.

Adam, who won the chance to be a Player Escort by winning a competition on the McDonald’s KickStart website, said: “It was brilliant to walk out onto the pitch next to all those England players.

“The noise that the fans made was amazing and I can’t wait to tell all of my friends at school about it.”

England eventually ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a goal by Daniel Sturridge.
