Aidan and Mel Hainsworth were due to have their wedding reception at the Whitcliffe Hotel in March. But the hotel went into liquidation in January, and the couple were told they could lose their deposit, leaving their perfect wedding ruined.

But, after reading about the couple’s plight in the Spenborough Guardian, the Gomersal Park Hotel rescued the wedding by offering the couple a reception at a reduced rate. The couple were also inundated with offers of help from Ponderosa, the Shears and Low Moor Club.

The two finally tied the knot last month at Gomersal Methodist Church.

Aidan said: “We had our reception and night do at the Gomersal Park Hotel. Everything went smoothly and we had a wonderful time.

“I would like to thank the Spenborough Guardian for running the story about our troubles and I have to say that the Gomersal Park Hotel were amazing by stepping in at such short notice and accomodating our needs.”

The couple, along with numerous others, found the Whitcliffe Hotel went into liquidation in January when they received a letter from administrators Rushton’s Insolvency telling them their wedding receptions would be cancelled.
