Water supply returning after burst pipe

Water service is gradually getting back to normal in Mirfield after a burst pipe left thousands without water.

A Yorkshire Water spokesperson told the Reporter that supply is slowly getting back in to properties this afternoon (Monday), after the burst pipe in Savile Court disrupted services.

Bottled water is available to the public at St Andrew’s Methodist Church on Old Bank Road and is being replenished when stocks run out.

Vulnerable customers have been contacted as a matter of urgency and bottled water is being delivered directly to them.

Old Bank School was affected but managed to reopen at 1pm.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water said: “We would like to apologise to our customers and thank them for their patience.

“Our engineers are working hard on site and the water supply is being restored to the area. We will update customers when the full service is resumed.”
