Motorists are being asked to take alternative routes as essential repair work to gas mains in Tingley begins next week.
The work, which starts on Tuesday (April 2) and is expected to take seven days to complete, will see one lane of Tingley Roundabout closed, which may lead to delays for drivers accessing the M62.
Keith Thompson, site manager at Northern Gas Networks said: “This work is vital to ensure we can continue to provide a safe and reliable gas supply to homes and businesses in the town.
“We know that no one likes road works and we always strive to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum.
“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to motorists for any inconvenience caused while this essential work is carried out.
“We would ask motorists to look for alternative routes during our works.”
Anyone that smells gas should call the national gas emergency service on 0800 111999.
