A DEWSBURY soldier who lost his life in Afghanistan will be forever honoured his home town.
The 20-year-old, who died in March, is one of 24 people whose names will be added to Crow Nest Park’s war memorial on Sunday at 12.30pm.
Cpl Hartley’s mum, Nathalie Taylor, said: “It’s overwhelming that they’re going to do that. It’s nice that people can walk through the park, look at it and tell their children. It’s very moving.”
She said the inscription meant his name would live on in the town where he was born and spent most of childhood.
For the same reason, the family is holding a memorial service at Dewsbury Minster later this month.
