VIDEO: Firefighters tackle blaze at former sewerage works

The fire started around 7pm on Wednesday, June 12, at the plant in Smithies Lane near to the Ponderosa Farm.

Crews from Dewsbury, Cleckheaton, Batley and Bradford worked through the night to keep the fire.

Dewsbury firefighters left the scene at around midnight and Odsal were there until 4am. Firefighters from across the region were at the scene through the night.

A huge plume of thick black smoke could be seen billowing for miles around and at the height of the blaze flames up to 30ft high could be seen.
