Video: Dewsbury residents lay floral tributes for Drummer Lee Rigby

Dewsbury residents came together to pay tribute to the soldier killed in London last week.

Around 20 people gathered at the war memorial in Longcauseway on Sunday to remember Drummer Lee Rigby. 
Flowers were still being laid there on Wednesday evening.

Today (Friday) the group who gathered last weekend shared a video of the flowers being laid with the Reporter.

John Dyer, of Lees Hall Road, suggested a moment of reflection after last Wednesday’s attack. 
He said: “I thought it might just be me and my wife turning up, but I was really surprised at how many people were there. 
“I suggested it on Friday and it just seemed to snowball from there. It’s brilliant how many people have taken it up.”
Red and white bouquets were laid to symbolise Yorkshire and Lancashire being united in grief.
Mr Dyer, 50, added: “It was a very solemn and emotional atmosphere. A lot of people just wanted to reflect on what happened. I never want to see anything like that again – it was soul destroying.”
The gathering was timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic, the longest continuous military campaign in World War II. 
Tens of thousands of lives were lost during the campaign.
