Video: Dewsbury kids star in road safety films

Children from two Dewsbury schools have starred in thought-provoking videos highlighting the importance of wearing seatbelts.

Pupils from Thornhill Lees’ Headfield Junior School and Paradise Primary School in Savile Town worked with the Kirklees Road Safety Partnership and media students from Kirklees College to create the videos.

Filmed at Dewsbury Fire Station, the clips feature the children talking about wearing seatbelts and the dangers of overcrowding in cars.

The videos are part of a new road safety website, designed for mobiles and tablets.

Chair of the Kirklees Road Safety Partnership Chris Kirby said: “Using the children to give the message not only helps educate the children, our future drivers, but gives them a powerful voice to bring the message to their parents.”

The website also includes a Parental Pledge to promise to wear their seatbelt for those they love and who love them, as well as links to the latest seat belt law information.
