Video: Boxing star Gary Sykes on his upcoming title fight
It is little over a week until Gary Sykes will realise his dream of boxing in front of his home crowd when he meets Manchester’s Jon Kays for the vacant British super featherweight title at Dewsbury Sports Centre.
Victory for Sykes would see him capture the Lonsdale belt outright and the 30-year-old Dewsbury Moor man cannot wait to step into the ring in front of his home fans.
Sykes has spoken to the Reporter Series and Morley Observer about how special May 24 will be and how our series of papers have helped raise his profile in the town to mark Local Newspaper Week.
Tickets are selling well but remain on sale at Dewsbury Sports Centre, Bar Deco in Batley – where an after-party will be held – and from Sykes himself.
