Updated: Man arrested after gun found in Dewsbury Moor garden

Armed police found a gun in a garden at Beckett Crescent, Dewsbury Moor, this morning. (D532A338)

Police were called to reports of a disturbance at an address in Beckett Crescent in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

A man was arrested after a firearm was found in the garden.

Four further men were arrested later this morning at locations in Dewsbury - believed to be at Smallwood Road, Shaw Cross - and all remain in police custody.

A police spokesman said: “This is believed to be an isolated incident and Neighbourhood Policing Team officers are in the area responding to concerns from residents.

“Enquiries are at an early stage and are ongoing.”

Armed police officers,a dog unit and the police helicopter all attended the incident.
