Two teenagers charged with armed robbery

A shop worker was attacked during the incident at Birkdale Newsagents, in Mallinson Street, at around 6.30pm.

One of the culprits took £130 from the till before both males fled.

Police have now charged a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old from the area.

Officers also carried out a search near the shop to find a knife used during the robbery, but could not say if one was found.

The charged will appear at Kirklees Magistrates Court tomorrow (Tuesday).
