Turn yellow to support lifesavers

In the cycling spirit of Le Tour we want your help in giving Yorkshire a yellow glow as the arrival of the Tour de France edges closer.

And we’ve got Mayor of Kirklees and cycling enthusiast Martyn Bolt on board. He is taking part in the Yorkshire-wide Wear it Yellow Day in support of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) on July 3.

We’re encouraging businesses, residents, schools and communities to wear something yellow on the day, with individuals donating £1 each to the lifesaving regional charity.

Coun Bolt said: “Unfortunately, cyclists sometimes need the services of the YAA, so this is an ideal opportunity for us to support a very worthwhile cause. I would encourage everyone to support this campaign.”

Abby McClymont, of the YAA, said: “We would really love to see as many people as possible wearing yellow on July 3 whether you’re at home, in your workplace or out and about with friends and family.”

Every £1 donation on Wear it Yellow Day will help to keep both the charity’s helicopters in the air and saving lives – it costs £9,990 per day to run the YAA.
