Rail passengers have been urged to travel earlier than planned today because of delays and cancellations to East Coast services.

Trains from Leeds to London King’s Cross, leaving at 2.45pm, 3.45pm and 7.15pm, have all been cancelled because of forecasts of strong winds and heavy rain.

And the 5.03pm, 5.49pm and 7.03pm trains from London King’s Cross to Leeds have also been cancelled.

Other services are likely to be delayed because of speed restrictions placed on the line.

East Coast has advised people to travel as early as they can today (Monday), or later than planned tomorrow (Tuesday).

Customers are advised to check before they travel, by visiting or calling National Rail Enquiries on 0845 7 48 49 50.

Today’s weather warnings only affect southern England and Wales, but heavy rain has been forecast for Wakefield for most of the afternoon.
