Three miles of traffic after collision on M1 at Wakefield, with delays back to Dewsbury and Ossett

More than three miles of traffic has been reported after a collision on the M1 at Wakefield this morning.

Highways England said the northbound carriageway had been closed at junction 41 (Carr Gate) after a traffic collision at around 10.40am this morning.

Traffic officers and West Yorkshire Police are on the scene, and traffic has been stopped while the vehicles are removed from the road.

More than three miles of traffic has already been reported, with queues back to junction 40 (Ossett/Dewsbury).

In a tweet, Highways England said: "#M1 northbound at J41 #CarrGate #TrafficOfficers and @WestYorksPolice are on scene dealing with a traffic collision and currently have the carriageway at a stop for vehicle clearance. Updates to follow."
