Snow ploughs attempting to clear snow from M62 as traffic comes to a standstill

Snow ploughs are attempting to clear snow on the M62 motorway as traffic grinds to a halt.

Highways England has confirmed there are delays of up to 30 minutes on the M62 westbound between Junction 26 and Junction 23 near Huddersfield due to heavy snowfall.

Highways England service providers are working to plough and grit the roads.

They are advising people to allow extra time for your journey and take care whilst travelling.

Stuck traffic on the M62 (Highways England)

Earlier this morning a lorry jackknifed across multiple lanes.

It happened on he M62 westbound at Junction 23 Outlane to Junction 22 Saddleworth at about 3.50am on Tuesday, February 2.

This caused multiple lorries to become stuck in the snow.

Highways England said the lorry has now been moved to the hard shoulder and traffic is moving as of 6.50am.
