Man cut from car which crashed and rolled on M62

A man crashed into a motorway barrier before his car rolled onto its roof and back onto its wheels.

Firefighters from Batley and Cleckheaton were called to the one-vehicle crash on the M62 westbound between junction 27 and 26 at 7.10pm yesterday (Tuesday).

They cut the roof off the small hatchback car, which had hit the central barrier, veered from the fast lane across the carriageway and onto a banking, to free the man.

The man, who is in his early 30s, was freed on a spinal board and put into an ambulance, before being taken to hospital. He was conscious and breathing at the scene.

The Highways Agency closed the carriageway for several hours to allow the man to be safely rescued and for his vehicle to be recovered.
