The Highways Agency are carrying out a £120m scheme to upgrade the carriageway to a ‘managed motorway.’

The scheme, which is due to be completed by September next year, will see hard shoulders become permanent lanes in both directions, between junction 39 at Durkar and junction 42 at Lofthouse, with the aim of increasing capacity and easing congestion.

There will also be overnight slip road closures as part of the works.

The northbound entry and southbound exit slip roads at junction 41 will be closed on Friday and Monday.

Additionally, the northbound entry slip road at junction 41 will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

All closures will be in place from 8pm to 6am.

Diversions will be in place.
