Bradford man dies after being hit by car in Morley

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 24-year-old man hit by car in Morley in the early hours of Saturday.

The man, from Bradford, was in the carriageway of the the A653 Dewsbury Road when he was hit by a Skoda Octavia at about 4.20am today.

He suffered serious head injuries as a result of the collision and died shortly afterwards at Leeds General Infirmary.

A full road closure was put on at the scene while investigation work was carried out. The road was re-opened just after 8am this morning.

Leeds District CID would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident.

The car had been heading towards Leeds when it was in collision with the man, who was in the carriageway.

DI Mark Atkinson of Leeds District CID, said: "An investigation is ongoing today into the circumstances of this collision and we would like to speak to anyone who can assist with enquiries.

"We would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have seen the man or the car in the moments before the collision took place.

"Anyone who has information should contact Leeds District CID on 101."
