Tragic Mark had just proposed

A MAN who was killed in a car crash was driving home to tell his parents he was engaged when the accident happened.

Mark Hoare died in a three-car accident in Scotland last Monday. His parents said he was on his way to the family home in Hanging Heaton to share his good news.

Dave and Sue Hoare said their son had recently met the “love of his life” while visiting a cousin in Stranrear.

“Unbeknown to us he proposed to her and she accepted,” they said in a statement. The announcement was to be made last weekend, on his bride-to-be’s 21st birthday.

The couple added: “Mark was about as happy as was possible to be on his tragic return journey home to us.”

Mark, who lived in Bromley Street, was a commercial vehicle mechanic at the UPS depot in Shaw Cross, Dewsbury, where he had worked since leaving school.

His spare time was spent with friends and family, and he enjoyed sea fishing, cars and video gaming.

Mr and Mrs Hoare said: “We know of no-one who has a bad thing to say about Mark, and anyone whose life he touched was the richer for it and knew they had met a man they would be able to trust and rely on with their most precious things.

“He has left a massive hole in our family and his loss has broken the hearts of all of us.”

Colleague Keith Marsden said: “I found him to be a very friendly and personable person, always willing to have a laugh and a chat. I would like to take this opportunity to wish his family and girlfriend my profound condolences at this truly difficult time.”

Mark was killed when his Suzuki Swift car crashed with a Vauxhall Vectra and a Vauxhall Astra just outside the village of Springholm on the A75 in Dumfries and Galloway.

Four other people in the Vectra received minor injuries in the incident. Dumfries and Galloway police are still investigating.
