A structural engineer was also sent to examine the house. A Kirklees Council spokesman said: “Kirklees Council building control officers attended.

“They provided expert advice and support to the fire service around areas including safety of fire service personnel dealing with the incident and how to remove any remaining danger so the fire service could finish their activities. Officers also met with the police and HSE the day after the incident and attended site.”

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said enquiries were ongoing.
