Firefighters from Cleckheaton were called to support police and paramedics, who treated the driver for minor head injuries.

Watch commander Gary Hatton said: “We were thinking somebody was going to be trapped in the tractor, but the driver was already out.

“We’ve isolated it, set up a cordon and requested other agencies attend.”

Kirklees Council is due to send staff to cut the supply to a streetlight knocked over by the tractor and assess the structural damage to the building.

A team from Northern Powergrid are also due to cut the electric supply to the building.
