Towns get ready for World Book Night

Volunteers and library staff will be handing out free books in Dewsbury and Mirfield tomorrow night.

Novels will be given away at each town’s train station from 4.30pm to celebrate World Book Night.

They will be distributed by staff from Kirklees Council’s library service and Dewsbury Town Team.

The idea is for official Book Givers to give away copies of their favourite books to promote reading.

Books being distributed in Dewsbury will include Noughts And Crosses by Malorie Blackman, Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? by Jeannette Winterson, Last Night Another Soldier by Andy McNab and Judge Dredd comic book The Dark Judges,

The West Riding pub in Dewsbury will be getting into the spirit tonight, with a literary-themed quiz from 8.30pm.

Then on Thursday, author Annabel Pitcher will host a storytelling and book signing event at Mirfield Library, 7.30pm-9pm.
