Festival chairwoman Mandy Keeton said: “We are excited about this year’s festival as it is going to be a fabulous day and most definitely bigger and better than last year.

“Once again the day will be free with amazing street acts and workshops for all the family to enjoy and for the first time we welcome Alternative Market, which is an opportunity for young people to showcase their creative and entrepreneurial talents by trading and performing.”

While the Market Place will contain 40 stalls, Memorial Gardens will be transformed, and visitors can use unconventional items such as remote control cars, teddy bears and water balloons to make art.

Two brightly-coloured Dodo birds from Todmorden-based company Thingumajig will turn out for festivities.

Batley Library will host Dewsbury-based Manasamitra, which will present their musical piece Lullaby: The Singing Bowl. Visitors can also take part in a variety of art workshops from Mirfield’s Creative Arts Hub.

The free event, from 11am-5pm, is supported by Creative Scene and Kirklees Council.
