But this week saw Mirfield Town Council faced even more toilet troubles after it was revealed the new toilet paper holders the authority had purchased were not large enough to hold the toilet rolls.

Coun Kath Taylor added that the town council had such a large stock of the jumbo-sized rolls that each one would have to be cut down to size in order to fit into the holders.

Coun David pinder explained: “The original toilet roll holders had been replaced because they were too large – the only problem is that the new ones are smaller than the previous ones.”

He added: “The toilet rolls still go in, but it means that when you put in two rolls it is very difficult to get any out. We are going to have to get rid of some of the paper when we put new ones in.”
