Thousands to turn out for annual show

Mirfield Show returns this weekend with around 10,000 visitors expected at the town's showground.

Crowds will take in the sights and sounds of two spectacular headline attractions, the Red Devils Parachute regiment and Blackrock Llama Centre agility display team, on Sunday, August 21.

The 12 man regiment and will perform a dazzling aerobatic parachute show.

Chairwoman of the Mirfield Show organising committee Karen Bullivant said: “I will be crossing my fingers, I will be relieved when I see the parachutists.

“It is a good family day out, exactly what people are looking for.”

And visitors will also be able to witness the UK’s only llama agility display team.

As seen on the Weekend Escapes ITV show, trainers will guide the llamas through an obstacle course.

Organisers are hoping once again to draw in the whole family, who can enjoy puppet shows, archery and wall climbing.

Proud displays of dogs, horses, poultry, vegetables, baking, flowers, rabbits and pigeons will be accompanied by competitive feats during the day.

The tug of war, one of the shows most popular events, will draws competitors from across the county.

Another feature of the show is the Mirf’ Fest Music Stage, which is organised in conjunction with radio station Pulse.

Artists including Jacob’s Ladder, Peculiar Blue, Fie! Fie! Fie!, Pheonix and Jasmine Wilkinson will take to the stage.

Tickets for the Mirfield Show can be purchased for £5 at the main gates on the day.

Children under 16 accompanied by an adult can attend for free.
