Thousands raised in Dewsbury summer event

Volunteers from Dewsbury West raised £9,500 at one of the summer's biggest community events.

The event was organised by Giry Ahmed, Sohail Afsar, Khalil Rashid, Councillor Mussarat, Abdul Aslam, Mohammed Zahoor, Zaied Sajawal, Zia Ul Haq, Mohammed Rizwan, Kadeer Bashir, Waseem Khan & Mohammed Tassawar. Funds raised were donated to Dewsbury charity Hope Welfare Trust.

There were a range of activities including a funfair, football, volleyball and a number of craft and entertainment stalls.

Local personalities including MP Paula Sherriff and a host of local councillors enjoyed the event. The chief guest of this event was social media celebrity Prince Naseeb a well known nasheed Artist who read several nasheeds during the event.

Hope Welfare Trust secretary Mohammed Zahoor said: "A staggering £9,500 was raised from this event which has been donated to Hope Welfare Trust an international charity. The funds will be used for feeding homeless project alongside Hope Welfare Trusts flagship project which is a state of the art maternity hospital built in rural area of Kashmir."
