Creative Scene, an arts project that produces and commissions programmes, is to bring two new shows to the area.

Acclaimed show ‘Best In The World’ will visit Roberttown Community Centre; Taproom, Batley; Westgate 23, Heckmondwike; Navigation Tavern, Mirfield and The Old Turk, Dewsbury.

The show will run from Sunday, May 22 to Thursday, May 26.

This will be followed by #ChipShopTheMusical which heads to the Sea Urchin in Dewsbury on Tuesday, June 7.

Best in the World is a play focussing on the world of darts, hence the pub setting.

Rebecca Whitely, who is hosting the show at The Old Turk, said: “It will be a different atmosphere to going to the theatre.

“It will be more relaxed, the audience will be able to grab their favourite tipple, find a table with friends and enjoy the show together.

“We worked with Creative Scene last year to bring a show here and it was great to see so many people come out midweek, it’s just what the town needs.”

#ChipShopTheMusical brings UK grime and Yorkshire brass - with a free fish supper included.

Vicky Holliday, Creative Producer, said: “Creative Scene wants to make art a part of everyday life and what better way than connecting with the places that are at the heart of the community; places designed for people to come together and share entertainment.

“These shows by Yorkshire artists celebrate traditional and emerging Yorkshire art, culture and lifestyles and tickets are a snip at £5 or less.”
