a BOARDED-UP pub is set to buck the trend and reopen by the end of the month.
The Whistler, in Leeds Road, Dewsbury closed earlier this year and it was feared it would join others which have called time for good.
This led to rumours the building, pictured, had been put up for sale and might be converted into a school or a mosque.
However, owners Enterprise Inns confirmed it has appointed a tenant for the pub and hope it will be back in business within weeks.
A spokeswoman for the company said: “It is our intention to reopen the pub, hopefully by the end of July. We have a new publican waiting to go in but, because it has been closed for a while, we need to carry out some necessary statutory works before this can happen.”
